1978 Full-Spec British Royal Navy Issue Rolex "MilSub" Submariner Ref. 5517


ROLEX: Stainless steel British Royal Navy issue Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner 200m automatic strap watch, issued in 1978. Large size stainless steel case with the bi-directional rotating diving bezel fitted with the 60 minute marker insert with tritium bezel "pearl", acrylic plexi-crystal, fixed strap retaining bars, screw down Rolex Triplock winding crown, polished case-sides, in fine used condition. Screw case back with the original British military issue marks: 0552/923-7697 8**/78 and Admiralty "broad arrow", with full matching serial number engraved inside. Very crisp original big-maxi matt black "T-circle" dial (denoting tritium dial markings) with over-sized dot and baton hour markers, and original Rolex sword-shaped "gladiator" pattern hour, minute and seconds hands with matching tritium in-fill. Signed Rolex, Oyster Perpetual, 660ft=200m, Submariner and Swiss T-25. Self-winding Rolex calibre 1520 automatic movement with hacking seconds (for time synchronisation). Fitted to the British MOD nylon NATO style strap. Serviced by Rolex UK with supporting paperwork. This watch was purchased directly from a British Royal Navy Submariner, and the watch saw active combat during the Falklands conflict. The watch is in "full-spec" configuration with the T-circle dial, sword hands, 60' bezel, fixed bars, and original caseback with military markings intact, and the 5517 reference number reserved exclusively for the British Ministry of Defence. 1979 Rolex-Comex Sea-Dweller 600m Bracelet Watch (Full-Set Box & Docs.)


ROLEX: Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual "Second Series" Comex Sea-Dweller bracelet watch, circa 1979. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating diving bezel with black calibrated diving insert, acrylic plexi-crystal, screw down "Triplock" winding crown and helium gas escape valve, in very fine used condition. Screw case back with the engraved Rolex inscription, and the original Comex issue number "22XX" deeply impressed in the centre. Fitted with the original Rolex-Comex matt black "Pisani" dial with heavy white dot and baton tritium hour markers with outer printed minute dashes, and matching Mercedes pattern hands. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, COMEX, Sea-Dweller, 2,000ft=600m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25 (the so-called "Pisani dial" depth rated to 600m (instead of 610m) is unique to early Comex Sea-Dwellers, and honours the late Marcello Pisani, an Italian watch scholar and expert). Nickel plated Rolex calibre 1570 self-winding 26 jewel mechanism. Fitted with the stainless steel solid link Rolex Oyster bracelet (ref. 93150 with 585 end-pieces) with Fliplock buckle and diver's extension link, in very good used condition. Box: complete with the original Rolex slash-card presentation case and outer cardboard box with 1665 sticker Accessories: original Rolex Submariner / Sea-Dweller and Rolex Oyster booklets, plastic wallet (with original serial number / Comex issue number sticker), original green swing tag (with original numbers sticker), red Chronometer seal, and 2,000ft anchor Documentation: complete with the original Rolex guarantee certificate and past Rolex service documentation. This very rare Sea-Dweller 1665 is a watch from the second batch of 2,000ft professional watches supplied by Comex to a commercial saturation diver for use in the field. This watch was delivered to Comex in February 1981. Model ref. 1665 Case No. 6018***


1967 Rolex "Patent Pending Mk II Double Red" Sea-Dweller Bracelet Watch


ROLEX: Very rare early stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date "Patent Pending" Mk II Double Red-Writing Sea-Dweller Submariner 2,000 bracelet watch, circa 1967. Large size stainless steel "thin" case with bi-directional rotating diving bezel with black calibrated insert with tritium pearl, original "super-dome" acrylic plexi-crystal, screw down "Triplock" winding crown and original early helium gas escape valve, in very good used condition. Screw case back engraved Rolex with the single Rolex crown above, "Oyster - Gas Escape Valve (Patent Pending)" (with the model number, date code IV.67, and last three case numbers inside). Beautiful original tropical matt black "Mk II" dial with heavy white dot and baton tritium hour markers (nicely toned to an even cream colour) with outer printed minute dashes, and nicely matching tritium Mercedes pattern hands. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, Sea-Dweller Submariner 2,000 (in red writing), 2,000ft=610m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. Nickel plated Rolex calibre 1570 self-winding 26 jewel nickel plated mechanism. Fitted with the stainless steel folded link Rolex Oyster bracelet (ref. 9315 with 380 end-pieces) with Fliplock buckle and rare "Pat. Pending" diver's extension piece, in very good used condition. This is an early example of the Rolex Sea-Dweller fitted with the gas escape valve in the case-side prior to the valve being patented by Rolex. Model ref. 1665 Case no. 2247***

ROLEX: Stainless steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual "Great White" Sea Dweller Date Chronometer bracelet watch, circa 1977. Large size stainless steel case with bi-directional rotating diving bezel with black calibrated insert and tritium pearl, acrylic plexi-crystal, screw down "Triplock" winding crown, and helium gas escape valve in the case-side, in fine used condition. Screw case back engraved "Rolex Oyster" with the twin Rolex crowns, and "Original Gas Escape Valve". Original matt black dial with bold tritium dot and baton hour markers, signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date, Sea-Dweller, 2,000ft=610m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, and Swiss T-25. Original matched Mercedes-pattern hands with matching tritium luminous in-fill. Self-winding nickel plated Rolex calibre 1570 twenty-six jewel automatic mechanism. Fitted with the stainless steel solid link Rolex Oyster bracelet (ref. 93150) with Fliplock buckle, in very good used condition. Complete with the original booklets, wallet and guarantee dated July 1978. Model ref. 1665 Case no. 5469***
